Lawyer: "1979"

This is the second time that we've covered Laywer's work, but it's not getting any easier.  The amount of promotional material is minimal, to put things mildly.  We offer our previous biographical sketch that outlines his work in and around Odessa;  he remains in the same city, so all of our information is still more than valid.  Even his haircut remains unchanged.

That should at least put these new tracks in some kind of context:  the correct genre, town, and hairdresser.

The new release, "1979," appeared last week and is available for free download in several locations.  It's composed of four new numbers:  three ragga/jungle/R&B remixes and one original work, namely the title track.  The first EP, "Silence," can still be found in a few places, including the skimpy page at PromoDJ put together by the young man hiding behind the stage name of Lawyer, Vladimir Smirnov (above, photographed on stage - in apparently high winds - with his secondary project, Frontcore).

"1979" is released through the RusZUB net label, whose catalog is made freely available and well worth an RSS subscription to keep abreast of further output.  Founded four years ago in Moscow, its roster of young artists is growing fast - both in number and geographic reach, since Smirnov himself lives a long way from the capital, in the aforementioned Ukrainian port of Odessa (below).

There remains only the moral obligation to give the music a few minutes of your time, and hopefully overcome indifference in order to pass some kind of judgment.  Listen, therefore, dance a little (ideally behind closed curtains), and download the tracks for yourself.
